About the App
PrivateVault is used to manage passwords, OTP items, private documents, and related risk reminders in one place. By default, data stays on the device. You may optionally enable Apple iCloud (private CloudKit database) for private sync across your own Apple devices. We do not provide a company backend to host your vault contents.
What to include when contacting support
To help us investigate efficiently, please include as much of the following as you can:
- Device model, OS version, and when the issue happened
- App version
- Steps to reproduce, screenshots, or screen recordings
- If the issue involves iCloud, whether strict offline mode is enabled
Frequently asked questions
What if I forgot my master password? The master password protects and unlocks your local vault. We cannot reset, view, or recover it from a server. If you permanently forget it, you may need to reset the vault in the App and restore from a backup if one is available.
What if Face ID or Touch ID is unavailable? Please confirm biometrics are enabled on the device, system permissions are available, and you previously turned the feature on in the App. Biometric verification is handled by Apple’s system frameworks.
What if iCloud sync is not working? Check that the device is signed in to the correct Apple ID, iCloud Drive / CloudKit is available, network access is working, and strict offline mode is not pausing sync. Cloud sync infrastructure is provided by Apple.
What if backup export or import fails? Check available storage, file access permissions, and whether the backup file is complete. Exported JSON backups may contain sensitive information, so please store them securely yourself.
Where is my data stored by default? By default it stays only on the current device. If iCloud sync is enabled, it may also be stored in the private iCloud database associated with your Apple account.
